Volunteers from the Black Hills Raptor Center present 130-150 educational programs per calendar year. Teachers invite us in to their classrooms. Each school program is tailor made to the age and learning level of the students. One of the very exciting things for most participants is how close they can get to the birds.

Touching is not allowed, as that would create too much fear in the birds, but photos are always welcomed. We also present at community events, state and national parks, sport shows, outdoor expos as well as birthday parties and family reunions. The fees for a program cover the birds’ care, food, mileage, and our insurance. The handlers are all volunteers.
